Builders who become a member of FINDYOURBUILDER.com.au agree to provide & maintain the following;
- Keep communication, honesty & reliability at the forefront of their relationship with clients.
- Maintain a safe work place for sub-contractor, employees & visitors.
- Provide value adding or cost saving ideals & solutions during the tender stage & during construction.
- Hold a current Builder’s licence issued by the relevant state or territory authority in which the works is to take place.
- A minium of 6 referees names & contact details of either past Clients, Project Managers, Architects, Engineers, or Professional Certifying Authorities.
- Director & or building Licence holder for the business has been in the building industry for a minimum of 5 years or is otherwise able to demonstrate expertise & experience in the building industry.
- Is a member of a Building Industry Group (eg – Master Builders Association or Housing Industry Association etc)
- Provides a Business Profile with an over view of the business, its name, Australian Business Number, address, contact details, business capabilities, history, addresses of present & past projects with names & contact details of a referee for each project.
- Public Liability Insurance & other insurance that are require by each state or territory authorities. (eg – Workers Compensation, All Risk & Home Warranty Insurance etc).
- No undischarged bankruptcies or outstanding court judgments against the business or directors.
- Provide accountant & solicitors names, address & contact details.
Code of Practice
Builders who have successfully complied with the entry criteria & Code Of Ethics become members of FINDYOURBUILDER.com.au.
All member of FINDYOURBUILDER.com.au have also agreed to follow a Code of Practice;
- Never quote on a project for which they have insufficient time or are otherwise unsuited to undertake.
- Conduct a site inspection with the owner’s approval.
- Request that all plans & relevant documents are provide to the builder so the builder may provide an acuate price for project.
- The quote/price or tender proposal should set out the plans & documents on which the builder has relied upon to arrive at the price.
- The tender proposal should detail what’s included & excluded in the price.
- The time the project will take to build & when the builder can commence the works.
- A trade break up of the price showing the amounts allowed for each trade & other works. -
- Provide a capability statement setting out similar project the builder has completed before with referee name & contact details.
- Provide a copy of the latest builders company profile.
- Submit the tender proposal/quote to the owner within the agreed time or contact the owner & arrange an extension of time to quote the project prior to the closing date.
- Provide the owner with a financial statement for the business from the builder accountant if requested.
- Provide a copy of certificates of currency for insurances & building licence.
- Enter into a Building Industry Standard Contract
- During construction if there are any changes to the completion date, cost deductions or increases the builder will notify the owner in writing.
- If there are any events that will impact on any clause or condition in the building contract, the builder will notify the owner in writing.
- The builder will keep the owner informed of each building stage through site meetings with the owner.
- The building site to be kept clear.
- The builder is responsible for all persons on site during construction.
- On completion of the project the Builder will provide the owner with all warrantee & guarantee for products, goods & services.
- During the maintenance period the builder will attend to the defects in the time period & matter as agreed with the owner.
